Why shop from vintage resellers
Vintage resellers are an essential resource for many of us as we’re decorating a home we love. Whether you found a seller on Instagram or stumbled upon a treasured vintage store in your city, vintage resellers are curated, in stock, and ideally priced to sell. Let’s dive into what we consider essential about resellers.
1. Resellers are curators. They take the hard work out of finding great vintage. Their job is to offer you a shop full of beautiful things that align with their shop’s aesthetic, their standard of quality, and the price point they prefer to offer their customers. Chances are if you find a shop you align with, they’ll be a great resource for you as you furnish and decorate your home.
Pro Tip: Because resellers are shopping a lot, you can ask them to keep an eye out for specific pieces for you. It gives them the option of paid work and saves you time. Win-win.
2. Resellers are knowledgable. Collecting vintage is about collecting beautiful pieces, but it’s also important to know what you have. Different resellers will be good at different things, but when you find an interesting piece from a reseller, ask questions or take note of the listing info. Often times they do their research on what they’re selling and can educate you.
3. Resellers have stock. They have furniture and decor that is available (hello, supply chain delays that aren’t going anywhere) and they’re consistently refreshing their merchandise. If you just bought a new home and need furniture but don’t necessarily want to buy all big box furniture, resellers can be such a helpful resource for finding things quickly. Though we love a good Facebook marketplace hunt, that kind of shopping is very time intensive. So if you just moved into your house and need a dining room table… resellers will have options for you ready to purchase, for prices still similar to buying new.
Pro Tip: Vintage pieces are often made to last and therefore will hold their resale value, unlike a lot of big box pieces. Even when prices might be higher than a thrift store, they’re often still more reasonable than buying new.
4. Resellers are small businesses. Resellers are spending their time sifting through junk, curating, hauling, cleaning, photographing, marketing, packing and shipping. Selling vintage is a true labor of love. You’re supporting a small business and an artist and we’re grateful for everything they do to get vintage out of landfills and into the hands of people who will cherish it.
