Budget-friendly rug round-up
Finding the right rug for your budget is something we’re commonly asked about in our Design Club and our work with clients. A rug grounds your space and greatly impacts the look and feel of a room. Expensive, high-quality rugs are worthy investments; however, they’re not always an option budget-wise.
We set out to gather 8’ x 10’ rugs made of natural materials that are under $500 (note, some are on sale so snag them quick or keep your eyes peeled for the next discount). We found several that pack a punch with design potential or could be a great base to layer with smaller rugs. As always, designing on a budget and staying true to ethical and sustainability standards means you have to be educated and get creative, so we’ve added our best tips and tricks below.

TIP: Look for hand-made rugs as a signal of quality. For sustainable options, natural materials - jute, sisal and wool will be more durable. Cotton is also a good natural option but can stretch over time.

TIP: Look for Good Weave TM Certification which assures a verifiable workplace environment and no child labor or forced labor used in the making of the product. It’s hard to wrap our head around the fact that a lot of affordable options on the market aren’t held to that standard which is why we are passionate about being educated consumers.
